Today you have a very special message from our amazing James Hollingworth!🤩 so sit back and enjoy getting to know about his time at Camel Club ❤️

“Hello, my name is James Hollingworth, I started DJing at Camel Club back in 2008 on a Thursday night we called Called Pick N Mix, it was basically a request night where you picked the music and I mixed it up! Haha

It wasn’t until 2012 that I started the night House Party at Camel Club taking on Tokyo who had the main Wednesday night back in the day... but after many years of hard work and simply providing a really good, safe, fun student night we can now safely say the Wednesday night at Camel Club is one of the biggest nights of the week in the town and we intend to keep it that way for many years to come!

My best memory’s of Camel Club is from this years freshers just gone when we had lots of guest DJs who absolutely smashed their sets and seeing the dance floor full of happy students having a good time! Oh and don’t for get the confetti!! 🥳

The thing I love about Camel Club the most is the people that work there... from Dave and Lou the owners (who are also the best / nicest people I’ve ever worked for) to the managers Steve and Billy who are just awesome! And of course the staff, some of them have worked at Camel for years and it’s like one big family!

Obviously not forgetting my little team that I’ve had work for me over the years, Dave Lockwood who has been working for me since I started Lets Get Funked back in 2008 and our other resident DJ Dave Earl who came on board in 2017, Radha has worked for me since 2016 and has now taken on running our Instagram account and is our friendly face on the door every week. My amazing promo team and everyone that has run beer pong over the years!

We love to do weird and wonderful things and themes and giveaways just to keep things fun and exciting! From giving away 100’s of Krispy Kreme doughnuts to toffee apples to Toast to having a ball pool in the club to throwing a Wild West party with loads of decor and hay bails everywhere!

I also run the Lets Get Funked freshers UV party which I’ve been doing since 2008, which started up at Storthes Hall and in 2018 moved it down to Camel Club and it’s just EPIC!

Hopefully this year we can get back to doing what we do best and get back in time for freshers!
